Readjusting
On 9/30/09,at 212 am i lost my father.Since then Ive spent alot of time reflecting on daddy.Daddy Loved his God, His family and his country.Daddy has left me with some mighty good memory"s.Daddy overcame alot in his life.He was the oldest of 12 and grew up in the depression years. My grandfather was a acholoic and between Daddy & my grandmother they kept the family together.Daddy was only able to go as far as the 10th grade in school, but got his GED in the army.He never stopped trying to learn something new.I guess i got my love of books from him.My earliest memory of daddy was in church.he did his best to keep us kids on the straight & narrow, but if we fell short he still loved us.As a correctional Sgt Ive seen what happens when there isn't a strong father to guide you.I never had to worry about daddy drinking up the grocery money & coming home and beating everyone up.Never saw a time when there wasn't food on the table or our needs met.I feel a void right now ,but i can hear him tell me"stand tall boy, your mama needs you.Even now he guides me in my day to day life with the example he set for me in life.

I believe they left about three drops in me.at three this morning the dr said i had a angina attack.didnt even know i had one of those.Ya"ll have a great week

Im Back
Well looks like i finished up early this time.I got to Texas, and was doing pretty good till the results from the Cardiologist caught up with me.Seems I've developed cardio vascular disease and I'm also CPOD.The Doc said the trip itself would kill me.I asked for a second opinion but the army doesn't work that way.So they sent me back home two weeks ago & I've been processing at the unit for the last two weeks fighting this.Looks like sometime in the next couple months i will be medically discharged and will no longer be able to serve this great country of ours.I'm sorry i haven't written till today.Right now I'm in a pretty dark place emotionally but i will pull out of it.Ive had a pretty good run and no regrets,I'm just having a hard time letting go.I'll just have to find another way to make myself useful.Ya"l have a great day & thank ya"ll so much for all the supportive statements ive found on my previous posting.

on my way
Looks like im headed for Ft Hood texas friday for a couple of months and then to Iraq.Durning this inprocessing ive been impressed with two things. One is the spirit of those youngsters im with and the age gap between us.I seem to the the antique of the bunch, and im already known as pop"s.I also feel my age now.Im definately not 50 anymore.Dont know how this will play out for me,but i go willingly. There may be some snow on this old rooftop of this head of mine, but the chimmly"s still smoking.Ya"ll take care

im through fishing
She Has Destroyed My Fishing Pleasure
Saturday morning I got up early, dressed quietly, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, slipped quietly into the garage to hook the boat up to the t ruck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential down pour.
The wind was blowing 50 mph. I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day.
I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. There I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The weather out there is terrible.'
My loving wife of 20 yrs replied, 'Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that sh!t?'
I still don't know to this day if she was joking, but I have stopped fishing.

always remember
Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
Soooo, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit."

Time for a second opinion
Doctor, take a look at me . .
This woman rushes to see her doctor, looking very much worried and all strung out.
She rattles off, "Doctor, take a look at me. When I woke up this morning, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw my hair all wiry and frazzled up, my skin was all wrinkled and pasty, my eyes were bloodshot and bugging out, and I had this corpse-like look on my face! What's wrong with me, Doctor?" The doctor looks her over for a couple of moments, then calmly says, "Well, I can tell you one thing...there ain't nothing wrong with your eyesight."

Armory Ghost
Here's one that i had on js that country girl asked for.The Roxboro armory that i make my military drills at has a unseen solider still making rounds there.due to the distance that i travel i usually spend night"s there rather than drive back & forth. One night around 1am i woke and headed to the latrine area.I could hear some walking across the armory floor.Combat boots make a distintive sound .I stepped over to the doorway to see if it was Sgt Cotton coming in early. The drill hall was as empty as a bottomless bucket.I shook my head and started back to the latrine.About that time sgt cotton came in.I asked him had he been out in the drill hall.He said no,im just getting in.I said "i wonder who the hell that was".At that instant a pitcure fell off the wall.It was a photo of a past commander who had recently passed on.I guess i got my answer.
Another Ghost Storey
I originally told this one at JS awhile back, thought id put it again here.As some of you know ive worked part time at a local Funeral home here for the last 25 years. One day i was at a small country church cemetary taking down a tent used at a previous inturnment.I heard a woman softly sobbing behind me.It was one of the most heart breaking sounds ive ever heard.I looked and saw a lady kneeling in frount of a grave crying her heart out.I was touched so i walked towards her to offer consulation. When i got about three foot from her,she simply vanished.I walked to where she was kneeling. It was the grave of a nine year old girl.Buried beside her was the grave of the mother who passed on a month later.I broke all records that day for tent removal.

odd occurance
I was reading becoming kate's blog today and thought id share a odd instident that happened right before christmas.Around 230 in the morning my seg officer called me to come to segregation as the inmate in cell 203 was rasing tee total hell.I went down and talked to him & try and calm him down. When i stepped to the door this usually calm 'tuff guy" was bug eyed and shaking like someone had packed ice in his underware.I asked him what the problem was.He said he woke up and there was a man sitting against a wall in the cell and making a gurgling sound. He promised me if i would just get him out of that cell he would do or tell me anything i wanted to know.I had my officer move him to another cell. 2 years ago around the same time as he started rasing hell i had a inmate commit sucicide in that same cell.Guess he's still pulling time.
